A viral video capturing a young child (assumed to be between the ages of 3 and 4) allegedly drinking beer in the stands of a Philadelphia Phillies game was recently released on YouTube, causing quite an uproar and outrage across the Internet. Continue Reading »
At Mutineer Magazine, we are always looking for new, fun ways to consume our favorite fine beverages. We thought that serving booze in frozen shot glasses at our 2nd Annual Red Carpet party was the “hot” new thing that all the “cool” kids were doing. But we were wrong. Thanks to one of our favorite comedians and consumers of fine beverages, Stephen Colbert, we have been introduced to the latest trend, “Vodka Eyeballing.”
The jury is still out on whether or not any of us Mutineers are willing to sacrifice sight in the name of research. I vote for sacrificing Alan (but shhhh don’t tell him).
In three minutes and thirty-six seconds, Infomania’s “Viral Video Film School” Episode 503 rips its way through wine vlog culture. The standard approach for video bloggers seems to be over-the-top enthusiasm and yelling at the camera. That and a strange attraction to the Vlog name “Wine Talk”. Crazy stuff.
Today, several of the crazy minds behind the Internet’s most compelling beverage websites have shown that their humor and creativity extends far beyond mere booze. Some bloggers tricked the world with outlandish announcements, others created alternative websites with ridiculous content, and a few did parodies on other industry professionals.
Here is a list of Mutineer Magazine’s favorite beverage blog April Fool’s Day stunts:

Tish of Wine For All Graphics & Design by:Katie Pizzuto of Gonzo Gastronomy Coding by:Heather Kohlstedt of He Cooks She Cooks The Spoof: The website was created as a parody of the online food & beverage industry. Highlights: The top “spoof” story of the day announced the eloping of The Beer Wench and The Wine Whore in a Vegas wedding presided on by an Elvis-impersonating priest. Other parodies included the announcement of Gary Vee figurines, a new beverage magazine called “Gourmand”, the “Pasta Whisperer” and more. Continue Reading »
Georges and Anja, the intrepid World Wine Tour travelers and organizers, are scorching through the Far East at breakneck speed. Check out their wrap up of the China leg of their trip…with video goodness.
Want to get involved in the World Wine Tour? Head over to the World Wine Tour blog and post questions you may have for Georges and Anja or the wineries they’ll be visiting. They will ask for you and post them on the site. You can also catch them in their regular column featured in each issue of Mutineer Magazine.
“Pro-Sex-But-Not” Exhibit A: The Video That’s Turning on a Nation
Is this Devassa Bem Loura beer ad controversial in your opinion? Through my nubile eyes, this is obviously what happens when an entire city takes ecstasy all at the same time. It starts with voyeuristic visions of a beautiful woman dancing in a high rise, and is followed by the slow crescendo of a glitzy big band ensemble that seems to be coming from nowhere and everywhere at once. On any other day these would be random freaks in the crowd, but today the freaks have stormed the gates in a four to eight hour revolution fueled by designer street drugs and the unquenchable desire to sing songs and snap candidly fierce photos of the movie star to sell to TMZ Brazil. I’m not judging, just observing, and I’m not the only forward-thinking thinker to have concerns about this video. Continue Reading »
Those cheeky punks at BrewDog are up to it again. This time, they’ve picked up the gauntlet thrown down by Schorschbrau who bumped BrewDog’s Tactical Nuclear Penguin off of the “world’s strongest beer” throne earlier this month with their Schorschbock. The only way they could have made this promo video funnier is if they had put Biz Markee in a penguin costume. Oh BrewDog youuu; you got what I neeeeed. Unfortunately, I’ll never get to taste it because the West Coast Mutineer Armory intercepts these kind of packages. The Villains! Continue Reading »
I’ve been glued to the Winter Olympics for the past week and a half. Like most of you, I’ve become addicted to curling (it’s okay to admit it…there are others like you out there), and I’m pretty disappointed by NBC’s coverage. It’s too stage managed and stale. You have to jump through mammoth hoops to even watch stuff online.
So it is with great joy that I show you this video as a tribute to our neighbors of the Great White North. Jon Montgomery won a gold medal in skeleton and on the way back from his run, a fan hands him a pitcher of beer. CTV caught it on camera and then played it on the air. If you look closely, you see the cops walking right next to him. Completely unscripted and the fan wasn’t tased. This was truly an epic Olympic beverage moment!
