
Deschutes Brewery’s seasonal “Cinder Cone Red” is slated to cease production very soon, with “The Last Run of Cinder Cone: Celebrating the Life of Cinder Cone Red” happening on January 5th, marking the end of an era for this popular northwest seasonal amber ale.

It was a bummer to hear that Vintage New York has closed its wine shops in New York City. You may recall Vintage New York from Dec/Jan of Mutineer Magazine as a part of the story on New York’s Finger Lakes wine region. I learned of the shut down from Steve Shaw Jr. of the incredible Shaw Vineyard in the Finger Lakes region, who was also a part of the Dec/Jan story on the Finger Lakes wine region. Shaw attributed the poor economy and lack of local interest in New York wines as the major reason for the shop closing. Continue Reading »

After a hard day at work it is always a delight to go to your favorite watering hole and knock back a couple drinks with your buddies. For over 20 years Scottish & Newcastle has given its retired workers vouchers worth around $55.00 that were redeemable at supermarkets for beer and ciders. Because of the growing numbers of retirees the brewery has axed the program pissing off many of those that took advantage of the free beer. Many of the pensioners like Thomas Cook give the beer as gifts for Christmas, now they will go without. They might want to rethink this plan in the accounting office of Scottish & Newcastle. The last time somebody started screwing with the Scottish they got Braveheart.


In case you didn’t hear, MillerCoors decided to discontinue Zima, a malternative alcapop beverage popular amongst vagrants and minors. If you’re a Zimaniac, you’re going to want to stock up, because supplies are expected to run out in December. Continue Reading »
