Beer Popsicles by Sarah Rae Trover

Image by: by Sarah Rae Trover

Julie Hadjinian, our graphic designing ninja/layout girl extraordinaire, recently stumbled upon a fine beverage discovery too awesome to ignore. We call epic moments like these “FTW” (For The Win) and feel the need to share them with the world.

We can’t take credit for creating it, but we wanted to share a recipe for beer popsicles that has us all worked up like a school bus full of 5th graders on a field trip. Yep, we’re rowdy and we can’t sit still. Continue Reading »

Dita Von Teese and Cointreau

At the end of this month, Dita Von Teese, the international queen of Burlesque and Brand Ambassadress to Cointreau, will be performing her sultry “Be Cointreauversial” burlesque act during the opening performance of Tales of The Cocktail at The House of Blues in New Orleans, LA. This is the first time this particular act will be performed in New Orleans, the birthplace of burlesque. Continue Reading »

Outside Living Cocktail, Patron Greenmarket Cocktails
For the second installment of Patron’s “The Art of the Drink”, a seasonal drink series that pays homage to the summer cocktail, Patron has joined forces with three of the country’s leading mixologists to create a series of sustainable cocktails that follow the “farm to table” concept — utilizing local and sustainable ingredients. Each ingredient in the Patron Greenmarket Cocktail lineup were carefully selected based on compatibility with the Patron Silver, Patron Reposado or Patron Anejo. Continue Reading »

Campari Citrus Popsicles

Every once in awhile, we randomly stumble upon fine beverage discoveries too epic to ignore. We call these moments “FTW” (For The Win) and feel the need to share them with the world.

We can’t take credit for creating the recipe, but we wanted to share a recipe for boozy Popsicles that has gotten us all giddy like school children on summer break at a pool party. Continue Reading »

Kahlua Milky Way Kahlua Javatini Kahlua Choco Coffee

L to R: Kahlua Milky Way, Kahlua Javatini, Kahlua Choco Coffee

At Mutineer Magazine, we get really excited over the marriage of two fine beverages (that is most definitely a wedding worth dressing up for).

Coffee is often an ignored bedfellow to liqueur. Most often, coffee cocktails are viewed as simply just an after dinner drink. They rarely ever take center stage. Until now, that is. This summer, the awesome folks at Kahlua (a coffee liqueur) are determined to revamp coffee cocktails, but with an icy twist. Continue Reading »

St. Patrick's Day - Green Alcohol

Folks get pretty geeked up about green on St. Patrick’s Day. People everywhere knock back copious amounts of green beer, and it’s even a tradition in Chicago to dye the Chicago River green. To be honest, I’d rather drink Chicago River water than most of the beer that gets turned green. If you’re going to wake up with a hangover on Thursday, why not get what you paid for? Why not get stuck into things that are green all year round. Here is a list of true green liqueurs and recipes for each. Continue Reading »

Absinthe and Fennel Soup

I firmly believe that like Luke Skywalker and The Force, absinthe was destined for this recipe. Normally, I add a bit of white wine or lemon juice when making soup to balance the flavors. But here, the acidity they add only makes the soup taste like tin foil. In contrast, the cool smooth absinthe transforms this velvety soup, making it crisp and bright while still managing to stay rich and warming. Recipe after the jump. Continue Reading »

Rhum Barbancourt

This should not be news to anyone, but earlier this year Haiti experienced one of the worst natural disasters in the modern Western Hemisphere — a massive earthquake that killed over 100,00 people, devastated the entire country and completely destroyed its capital, Port-Au-Prince.

The subject of Haiti hits VERY close to home at Mutineer Magazine. One of our very own editors, Brian Kropf, is currently stationed with the U.S. Army in Haiti.

The mass destruction in Haiti in combination with having a really good friend stationed there got me thinking about the beverage culture on the island. Does Haiti have a beverage culture? And if so, what does it look like? Continue Reading »
