Odell Isolation

On October 1, Odell Brewing will release their winter seasonal Isolation. Odell Brewing Isolation is their 6% winter warmer and is a caramel malty ale balanced by a subtle crisp hop finish.

“A funny thing happens here around summer’s end – our eyes start searching the skies for those first fall flakes. As we welcome autumn’s first snow, we celebrate the return of Isolation Ale,” reads the label. “Whether you ski, shred, or shoe, Isolation Ale will inspire you to make first tracks.”

The beer will be tapped October 1 at their Fort Collins, CO brewery at an Isolation tapping party that will coincide with the weeklong festivities of the Great American Beer Festival.

Isolation Ale is available October through December throughout the brewery’s ten state distribution region.

Brooklyn Brewery – “Detonation Ale”

Brooklyn Brewery Detonation Ale

Treading confidently in the heralded footsteps of Brooklyn Brewmaster Reserve releases ‘Manhattan Project’, ‘Backbreaker’, ‘Cookie Jar’, ‘Dark Matter’ and most recently Braggot-styled ‘Buzz Bomb’, comes ‘Detonation Ale’.

Esteemed Brooklyn Brewmaster, Garrett Oliver, says of this hoppy beast, “For about eight years now, we’ve brewed a Brooklyn-style hop monster called ‘BLAST!’ It’s a robust IPA using both British and Pacific Northwest hops. We haven’t had enough space to brew much of it, but we hear that people really enjoy BLAST! when it shows up. And it’s one of our favorite beers here at the brewery. Well, now we’d like more of you to see our hoppier side. Meet BLAST!’s big brother, Brooklyn Detonation Ale.”

Odell Brewing Double Pilsner

Odell Brewing is back at it again, this time with their 2008 World Beer Cup silver medal winning Double Pilsner in hand. “Double Pilsner is a tribute to the classic Bohemian Pilsner, and boasts a strong German pilsner malt profile. Munich malts and Caramalt are balanced by Saaz and whole flower Tettnanger hops,” according to Amanda Johnson of Odell.

Limited to 100 barrels, Double Pilsner will be available in a limited area of distribution and will be found in six packs with a suggested retail price of $10.99-11.99. And as with all limited release beers, once this beer is gone — it is gone for good.

Odell Woodcut No 4

Odell Brewing is at it again with the release of the fourth beer in their Woodcut series, this time pushing the limits with a double marzen-style lager. With the first three beers of the Woodcut series being ales, it was time for them to do something different. “Our first three Woodcut offerings were fermented with ale yeasts. We wanted to stretch our innovation by creating a small batch strong lager” said Brendan McGivney, the head of production at Odell. According to the press release, Woodcut No. 4 is “best described as a double Märzenbier, boasts a clean malty body with a clean, refined finish. Hints of toasted cedar, vanilla, and almond are created by lagering the beer in new American Oak barrels.Continue Reading »

Odell Woodcut 3

Avery isn’t the only awesome brewery coming out with their third installment of an awesome series of beer as Odell prepares to release their Woodcut No. 3. The third of their Woodcut barrel-aged series, No. 3 follows No. 1, an oak aged ale and No. 2, an oak aged golden ale. No. 3 is an oak aged crimson ale that after primary fermentation, it is chilled and then transferred to virgin American oak barrels to age and once it’s finally ready, the brewers will evaluate various barrel blends before finally choosing the blend to bottle. As with the other beers in the Woodcut series, Woodcut No. 3 is bottle conditioned in 750ml Champagne-style bottles and then corked and caged. Continue Reading »
