Ebenezer Pub

Thursday, August 19th a feast of Edwardian proportions will take place at the storied Ebenezer’s Pub in Lovell, Maine. The chef for this epic feast will be none other than Sonoma, California’s own “Home Brew Chef” Sean Paxton (famous for preparing the world’s largest beer dinner).

The lucky bastards who get to attend this ode to gastronomica will be dining in style on dishes paired with a rare bottles from Ebenezer’s proprietor Chris Lively.  What sort of pairings will they be? I’m talking 16 mind-blowing courses such as lobster poached in foie gras paired with Cantillon Crianza Helena and crepinettes of coriander cured pork belly, chanterelles and leeks paired with Wild Pannepot De Struise Brouwers. Did you see the video the craft brewers made to clearly state what they, as a community and industry of artisans and professionals, are all about? Well, now it’s the home brewers’ turn, and they have created a video response that is just as soul rattling as the craft brewers’ version. Bravo.

Every year the Boston Beer Company holds their Sam Adams Longshot American Homebrew Competition. Homebrewers from across the country send in sample bottles of their homebrew to be judged for a shot at commercial production by The Boston Beer Company. The four finalist beers are taken to the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO for final judging. Once the judging is complete, the winner’s beer will be added to the Longshot Variety Pack. This includes two homebrew winners and a third winner of the Samuel Adams employee homebrew contest. Continue Reading »
