Kona Brewing is Now a Subsidiary of Craft Brewers Alliance

Kona Brewing Company, best known nationally for their three craft brews, Longboard Island Lager, Fire Rock Pale Ale, and Wailua Wheat Ale (as well as lesser known Big Wave Golden Ale and Pipeline Porter), has taken their 9 year partnership with Craft Brewers Alliance to the next level. They are now recognized as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company. Craft Brewers Alliance brands also include Red Hook, Widmer, and Goose Island Beer Company. CBA was named as the eighth largest U.S. brewer, based on domestic shipments in 2009. Craft Brewers Alliance is paying 13.9 Million for the acquisition of Kona Brewing Company. Continue Reading »

Ah, Kona, Hawaii. You may think its a sleepy little Kailua town on the big island of Hawaii. But, think again. Once a year the quiet town of Kona on the island of Hawaii gets transformed into a Mai Tai mecca at the Don the Beachcomber Mai Tai Festival, sponsored by Bacardi. With top mixologist talent showing up from all across the state, and international participants and judges, this island village goes all out. For this year’s second annual crowning of the “Master of Mai Tai”, the event held at the Royal Kona Resort‘s Mai Tai Bar stepped it up a notch with an oceanside concert headlining with Third Eye Blind, food booths and a barbecue tasting contest, live music by local entertainers Henry Kapono of Cecilio and Kapono, and Eric Gilliom of Barefoot Natives, and a nice ten thousand dollar cash prize for the winner. Maui Brewing Co. Expands Distribution to Washington State

Maui Brewing Co. Logo Maui Brewing Co. brewers of Bikini Blonde, Big Swell IPA, and CoCoNut Porter have expanded their off-island distribution to Washington State in a signed deal with Click Wholesale Distributing of Kent, Washington.

Click Wholesale Distributing and their sister Co. Click Distributing East will give Maui Brewing Co. availability throughout the entire state of Washington, including some portions of Idaho. Maui Brewing Co. beers can also be found in Hawaii, Oregon, and California. Continue Reading »

Great labeling caught my eye first, then great taste kept me wanting more. Fire Rock Pale ale from Hawaii offers plenty of flavor its mainland cousins have.

Kava is generally found in Hawaii and the Polynesian Islands. The Kava root is used in order to create a drink that is similar to alcohol, but has fewer drawbacks..There have never been any documented cases of Kava causing any harm to anyone. Consumption of Kava, unlike alcohol, will not leave you with a hangover the next morning. This is a great social drink.
