Mutineer Magazine’s Mutinous Water Relief Expedition to Kathmandu, Nepal in support of A Child’s Right and global water relief is approaching fast and Mutineer couldn’t be any more excited. What will Mutineer Magazine be doing? Mutineer will be leading a fine beverage expedition and purchasing and installing 5 water filtration systems, enough to provide clean water to 25,000 at-risk children for 10 years. Pretty epic.

The first two stages of our plan have been implemented by way of the Mutineer Magazine Blue Carpet Fundraiser Dinner for Water Relief held at Jordan Winery in Healdsburg, CA and with the Mutineer Magazine Holiday Comedy Festival held at Jacuzzi Family Vineyards in Sonoma, CA this last December. This brings us to something we’re super excited about, Clean Water Crusaders.

Are you a beverage producer looking for some exposure? Are you looking to further your philanthropic efforts? What if you could get your product featured in Mutineer Magazine and all while making a tax deductible charitable contribution directly to 501(c)(3) A Child’s Right? This is your chance. Beverage producers who raise or donate $500 will have their product professionally photographed and featured in Mutineer Magazine as seen in the image above. For the three producers who raise or donate the most, their product will be featured on the cover of the nationally distributed Mutineer Magazine for the entire nation to see.

Here’s how it works:

  • Your company raises at least $500 by August 27, 2011 to benefit water relief in Nepal, with all funds paid directly to 501(c)(3) non-profit organization A Child’s Right.
  • Your fine beverage company sends Mutineer Magazine your logo or a bottle of your beverage to be photographed.
  • A photograph of your company’s product or logo will be featured in the November/December water relief-themed issue of Mutineer Magazine with an interesting water-themed fact that will also be tweeted by @MutineerMag on behalf of your company.

And again, the top three fundraisers will be featured on the cover of the September/October issue of Mutineer Magazine.

For more information, visit our Clean Water Crusaders page or email Jeff Dorenbush.

Are you a consumer and you know of a beverage company that would be perfect for this? Let them know!

Elysian The Mens Room Red

This amazingly well done photograph of Elysian’s Mens Room Red by Mutineer Director of Photography Ian Andreae will be the first of many photo blog entries to come here on the Mutineer blog. There won’t be much to read, just some great photos to look at. Continue Reading »

Mens Room Original Red The Mens Room Original Red brewed by Elysian Brewing of Seattle, Washington was recently released and has been flying off the shelves since its debut on August 25th. The frenzy that has been fueled by this beer has the heads of local retailers and bars spinning as they can’t seem to keep it in stock or on tap.

You might be asking – Mens Room? Seriously? What kind of name is that for a beer? To better put this into perspective, The Mens Room is an afternoon drive-time radio show broadcasting on the local rock station 99.9 KISW. Miles Montgomery, Steve “The Thrill” Hill, Ben the Psycho Muppet, and Thee Ted Smith round out the cast who hold court on the radio daily discussing the odd, disturbing, and comical topics that come about in daily life and they don’t hold back on professing their love for so-called sinful activities like drinking and smoking. Every weekday night at 5pm they hold the “Shot of the Day” toasting someone or something that has either done something wonderful, or horribly embarrassing. Continue Reading »

Toxic Sludge

“Our poor little beaked brethren think they are vacationing in the sunny Gulf but they are really flying straight into a disaster zone.” – Pete Cotter, president of Blue Point Brewing. “While others are focused on cleaning up the beaches and water, our efforts are purely for the birds.”

Long Island’s only microbrewery, Blue Point Brewing Company, has announced the development of a speciality batch beer created specifically to help raise money for birds hurt by oil spills — both now and in the future. The beer is being called ‘Toxic Sludge’ and it is a Black IPA (India Pale Ale) — also referred to as the “American-style Indian Black Ale”, one of the newest beer style categories being recognized by the Brewers Association this year. Abita Beer – “Save Our Shore”

We have all been shocked and saddened by the truly catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, in the shadow of this ongoing disaster is Abita Beer of Abita Springs, Louisiana who on Friday, July 16 released the first bottles of Abita SOS, a charitable Pilsner. Initially for sale in New Orleans, cases will then make their way across the county. Team Avery Brewing Today, ten brewers from three Colorado breweries will embark on a five day, 470 mile bike ride for charity. Tour of BoulDurango starts at Avery Brewing Company in Boulder and crosses over 6 majestic mountain passes to Durango. During the epic journey, the ten crazy brewers from Avery Brewing, Oscar Blues Brewing and Ska Brewing will be visiting craft breweries and brewpubs along the way in an effort to bring together Colorado brewers, raise money for local charities, and encourage the spirit of collaboration and camaraderie.

“Craft beer isn’t about getting rich and cutthroat business practices; it’s about following your passions and doing what you love, it’s about being part of your local community and working with people who are just as psyched to be in the business as you are.” — Adam Avery, President and Brewmaster of Avery Brewing Company. Salute to Summer's Best 60 Second Cocktails I’m a big fan of the military and I guess that should be evident, being that in three days, I will hit my four year mark of active duty service in the Army. I’m also a big fan of alcohol and fine beverage, which should be even more evident, as I write and blog for Mutineer. Sadly, unless the former is causing one to drink the latter, the two don’t have too much of a connection.

Enter Bacardi U.S.A. and the USO and two former soldiers, one turned celebrated chef and the other a seasoned mixologist. Combined, they work to raise $100,000 for the USO and salute our military heroes by launching the “Salute to Summer’s Best 60 Second Cocktails” program, which gives consumers simple grilling and cocktail recipes created by Chef John Besh and Mixologist Bryan Stowe. Last month Betacup challenged its participants to present innovative ideas on how to eliminate paper cup consumption through the design of a more convenient alternative to the reusable coffee mug. The judging process was split into two categories: the Jury Prize and the Community Prize.
