Almost a year ago, Mutineer Magazine’s Online Editor Brian Kropf wrote about the first release of Olde Rabbit’s Foot, a bourbon barrel-aged blend of imperial stouts from three North Carolina breweries (Olde Hickory Brewing, The Duck Rabbit Craft Brewery and Foothills Brewing).
The release of Sexual Chocolate from Foothills Brewing out of Winston-Salem, NC is less than a month away and all the details surrounding the release have finally emerged. What is set to be an epic release for the 2009 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal winner in the Imperial Stout/Porter category, Sexual Chocolate will be released on February 6 beginning at 11 A.M. However, if you plan on showing up at 11 A.M. for the release, you are wrong and you WILL miss out on this dark, luscious, sexy smooth vice.
But wait, there’s more. The night before, Foothills will host PreSex, a pre-release celebration centered around a tasting that will start at 7 P.M. and last until midnight. Olde Rabbit’s Foot is a release that has been talked about for months, though little information was really known about it other than three things:
1) It would be a collaboration between Foothills Brewing, The Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery, and Olde Hickory Brewery.
2) It would be an imperial stout.
3) It would be aged in bourbon barrels.

Yesterday’s blog was about the monstrous Firestone 13, and today’s blog is of a beer of equal proportion that still has a few months to go, but information is just starting to come out surrounding it and we now officially have a date for its release. Foothills Sexual Chocolate, a recent Bronze Medal winner in the Imperial Stout/Porter category at the Great American Beer Festival, will be released at the Winston-Salem brewpub starting at 11am on February 6, 2010.
Specifics haven’t been released as to the price, limits or how many bottles will be released, but if last years release was any indication, we can expect it to sell out quickly and cost around $15 per bottle. Last year only 600 hand signed 22oz bottles were released with a limit of 4 bottles per person… and it was gone with the quickness. Continue Reading »
