Fine Beverage + Social Media = FTW!
In an effort to engage its fans as well as provide a platform where mixologists of all levels can showcase their skills, Patrón Tequila has created a Facebook application that challenges people to re-imagine classic drink recipes and develop their own, unique cocktails.
Each cocktail submitted to “Patrón Cocktail Lab” will be up for public voting. Professional mixologists will also be available on the site to provide expert advice, commentary and tips. The Patrón Cocktail Lab will kick off with the “Patrón Margarita, Deconstructed,” where visitors will be asked to reinterpret the classic margarita recipe. In the main picture of the blog, there is a bottle of Macallan 12, which tells me one of two things. Either the team is so confident that the username launch is going to go so well that a celebration is imminent, with a bottle of Scotch being the perfect libation to celebrate such a moment, or that things were going to get very terrifying very quickly, and Scotch may be the only thing to calm everyone’s nerves and keep morale up. Anything to do with “calling people out” is sure to get my attention, so when I got the Facebook group invite to join “Mom-n-Pop Restaurants Against Suze Orman”, it was game on.
I received the invite from Emily Stoller Smith of the unfathomably awesome Eyrie Vineyards, which we wrote about in Mutineer Magazine Issue 2. People often ask me what my favorite wine is, and Eyrie is definitely in the top three, if not my favorite of all time. What is Sacre Bleu?
