Freshcraft Restaurant and Bar

Lucas Forgy loves food. Jason Forgy loves beer. Together, they are Freshcraft; a brand new take on the restaurant/craft beer bar industry. Freshcraft boasts a two page menu with options for everyone (including vegan and gluten free!), a list of 20 draft and 100 bottle types of craft beer, a generous wine list and even a full bar for cocktails. As of August 24, 2010, Freshcraft is officially open for business.

Using fresh and local ingredients, the food is meant to be a unique twist on American comfort food. Included in the menu are tidbits such as pretzel bites and southern fried pickles, french dip and croque monsieur sandwiches, ale and cheese soup, antioxidant mix salad, whiskey BBQ chicken sandwich, Freshcraft pretzel turkey baja, cassoulet for one, cheesy broiled bowties, and crispy pork schnitzel. Great American Beer Festival 2010

If you’re planning on heading to Denver this September 16-18th for the Great American Beer Festival and you haven’t bought your tickets yet, you had better hurry. Great Divide Brewing Co. sign Colorado is host to many great craft breweries, and the Great Divide is one of them. Located in Denver, the Great Divide is just a short and free bus ride from the Colorado Convention Center, where the Great American Beer Festival has been held for the last nine years. The Great Divide has eight year-round brews and fourteen seasonal.

This Friday, August 14th, the brewery is releasing the last two seasonal beers of 2009. Hoss, a Marzen style lager with the addition of rye in the recipe, and Tripel, a classic Belgian style strong ale. The release party is from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M., and for just fifteen dollars it’s snacks and all the Hoss and Tripel you can drink…better check that bus schedule. Every year the Boston Beer Company holds their Sam Adams Longshot American Homebrew Competition. Homebrewers from across the country send in sample bottles of their homebrew to be judged for a shot at commercial production by The Boston Beer Company. The four finalist beers are taken to the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO for final judging. Once the judging is complete, the winner’s beer will be added to the Longshot Variety Pack. Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey

George Stranahan, artist, rebel and founder of Flying Dog Brewery has now ventured into the tasty world of whiskey. When his barn burnt down over seven years ago one of the firefighters helping douse the flames was Jess Aspen, a fellow lover of spirits. As the two discovered their shared passion for alcoholic beverages the idea was born to create a whiskey distilled in the beautiful landscape of Colorado. Now available, Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey is a small batch distillery located in Denver. Availability is limited, but sure to be coming to your area soon.

How To Start The Day At GABF

JJ here, I attended the 27th annual Great American Beer Festival (GABF) in Denver this year and let me tell you it was quite the show. Here are some pictures of the event and those who were able to make it. Look for the full article in issue #3 of Mutineer Magazine.
