Grand Marnier Grand Giving Tree

Dedicated to giving back this holiday season, iconic spirit brand Grand Marnier has partnered with three charitable organizations to help raise funds for their individual causes. World Wildlife Fund, one of the world’s largest nature conservation programs; WaterAid America, dedicated to transforming lives by improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene in the world’s poorest countries; and Cool Earth, an organization that helps indigenous communities halt deforestation one village at a time, will participate in an extraordinary holiday program – The Grand Giving Tree.

Live now on Grand Marnier’s Facebook page, The Grand Giving Tree Facebook application will allow users to select a holiday ornament representing their organization of choice and place it on a virtual holiday tree. The organization with the most ornaments by December 31st will receive a $10,000 donation. The giving will not stop there. Grand Marnier acknowledges the significance of the causes featured and will award a secondary amount to each of the remaining two organizations. In addition, all users who hang an ornament on the tree can enter to win $1,000 for themselves to spread holiday cheer to their family and friends.

“We are so excited to be partnering with such amazing organizations,” said Pamela Broyles, Marketing Manager for Marnier Lapostolle Inc. “The holidays should be about giving, and we are honored to be able to contribute to these deserving causes.”

Recognizing the importance of social media in our digital world, Grand Marnier is tapping into an audience of millions and encouraging them to give back in a non-traditional way.

“By utilizing a hugely popular platform like Facebook, The Grand Giving Tree will bring people together through social networking and the power of goodwill,” concluded Broyles.

Take a moment to get involved during the holidays by visiting The Grand Giving Tree on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/grandmarnier and choose your cause’s ornament today.

STK Holiday Cocktail

Our friends at STK are very excited about their holiday cocktails, and in the spirit of the holidays we figured WHY NOT SPREAD A LITTLE HOLIDAY CHEER.

Nadia or Nice
42Below Vodka, Pomegranate Liqueur, Lime Juice

Old Man Winter
Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Grand Marnier, Eggnog, Benedictine Liqueur

Amanda-tory Kiss
42Below Vodka, Peppermint Schnapps, Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur, Cream

As for us Mutineers, Energyologist Jeff’s idea of a holiday cocktail is eating candy canes and washing it down with Red Bull and tequila, Beer Editor Brian has a constant supply of holiday seasonal beers finding their way onto the counter, our marketing guru JJ is drinking Amarula Cream cause he can’t seem to get enough of the stuff, and I’m drinking whatever people put in front of me! Happy holidays fellow Mutineers!

Bols Genever Holiday Punch

If you’re a fan of Robert Hess‘ “Classic Cocktails” column in Mutineer Magazine, you’re probably a fan of the killer photos of the cocktails prepared by H. Joseph Ehrmann of San Francisco’s Elixir Saloon (and photographed by Mutineer photog Ian Andreae). Ehrmann is a ninja of the cocktail, and one only needs to try his renowned Bloody Mary to become a believer.

Here is a holiday punch featuring Bols Genever by Ehrmann that is sure to make you the cocktail ninja of your holiday party. Recipe after the jump. Continue Reading »

Bad Elf and Very Bad Elf

Anyone ever wonder where Santa’s elves are during the off season? Do they just kick it at the North Pole with their feet up and watch all the stuff they Tivo’d when they were making toys? Do they go skiing? Do they go to Boca? Ridgeway Brewery’s interpretation is a bit more sinister; the elves take to bacchanalian drinking.

Ridgeway’s Elf Series has five beers in the lineup: Bad Elf, Very Bad Elf, Seriously Bad Elf, Criminally Bad Elf, and Insanely Bad Elf. They run the style gamut and go from 6% to 12%. Some details after the jump. Continue Reading »

Virgil's Real Cola with Ham

As the Hungry Mutineer I’ve been playing around with a recipe that has both freaked me out and interested me in equal parts; ham cooked in soda. It sounds strange, I know but trust me it completely rocks. I chose a natural cola from Virgil’s Micro Brewed Soda and cooked it up holiday style by adding a few fragrant spices. You can use whatever cola you like, just be sure it is real cane sugar [Jones Soda / Red Bull Cola]. This is important, an artificial sweetener will not produce the syrupy liquid that you will use for basting, plus it just tastes better.

Give this recipe a try for your holiday party, your hungry friends will thank you.

For the last 33 years Anchor Brewing has released a special Christmas Ale to celebrate the season. Each year the brewery changes the recipe to commemorate the rebirth of the Earth and the coming spring. The ale is available from November through January and will store for a number of years. This years left over pumpkin pie, a pint of Christmas Ale and a movie would be a perfect pairing for a winter evening. I suggest buying a magnum and four of the matching pint glasses and saving it for next years Christmas celebrations.

Check out Anchor Brewing Steam Gear.
