You may be familiar with the popular phrase In Vino Veritas (in wine there is truth). Well, now you can add En La Libertad De Tequila (in tequila there is liberty) to your list of fine beverage philosophies.
In its newest campaign, “Tequila Is Liberty”, 901 Silver Tequila is on a mission to inspire and compel its consumers to “elevate themselves above their everyday norm” and urges people to “feel at liberty to pursue”. Continue Reading »

Would You Have a Drink With You? This is the question that Stolichnava Vodka is posing to its audience in a new ad campaign that will feature multiple celebrities, including Hugh Hefner and Julia Stiles.
Conceptualized by advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather, the campaign consists of print ads and commercials, challenging the consumer to ponder if they have what it takes. “Are you daring enough? Are you an original? Are you experiencing and living your life in an authentic, interesting way? Are you someone you’d want to share a Stoli with?” Continue Reading »

A few days ago, President Barack Obama met with the new British Prime Minister, David Cameron. The two enjoyed a light banter on, what else, the subject of beer. Each brought a beer from their area of the world to exchange with the other. Obama represented Chicago with Goose Island 312, while Cameron pimped out Hobgoblin from Wychwood Brewery in his home constituency, Whitney. Continue Reading »

Alcohol consumption has a long history of coinciding with major sporting events. And typically, alcohol consumption increases around championship series and games. Budweiser has recognized this issue and, in honor of the 2010 World Cup, has created an ad campaign encouraging people to designate a driver. The ads will run until July 11th.
“Our new ‘Designate a Driver’ campaign is intended to bring our responsible drinking message to life during this time of excitement and celebration. Backed by significant resources, we’ll take our message to millions of consumers over the coming weeks.” – James Watson, marketing director at Budweiser Western Europe Continue Reading »

At Mutineer Magazine, we are always looking for new, fun ways to consume our favorite fine beverages. We thought that serving booze in frozen shot glasses at our 2nd Annual Red Carpet party was the “hot” new thing that all the “cool” kids were doing. But we were wrong. Thanks to one of our favorite comedians and consumers of fine beverages, Stephen Colbert, we have been introduced to the latest trend, “Vodka Eyeballing.”
The jury is still out on whether or not any of us Mutineers are willing to sacrifice sight in the name of research. I vote for sacrificing Alan (but shhhh don’t tell him).

In honor of Betty White hosting Saturday Night Live recently, Mutineer contributor Robert Haynes-Peterson has taken things to an entirely new level with his “Betty White Drinking Game of Champions Championship” . As with any gentleman’s drinking game, the rules are simple and logical: You print out his bingo card of possible occurrences on the show, and then play bingo, with your friends taking a shot whenever you get a BINGO! I suggest an even simpler approach, with everyone taking a shot every time something funny happens, but last time we did that at Mutineer HQ we found Jeff asleep in the washing machine (don’t know how he did it, but he did, and I have the photos.)
