This should not be news to anyone, but earlier this year Haiti experienced one of the worst natural disasters in the modern Western Hemisphere — a massive earthquake that killed over 100,00 people, devastated the entire country and completely destroyed its capital, Port-Au-Prince.
The subject of Haiti hits VERY close to home at Mutineer Magazine. One of our very own editors, Brian Kropf, is currently stationed with the U.S. Army in Haiti.
The mass destruction in Haiti in combination with having a really good friend stationed there got me thinking about the beverage culture on the island. Does Haiti have a beverage culture? And if so, what does it look like? Continue Reading »

Beersage over at Beernews.org put together a great blog post about the efforts of craft breweries to support Haiti relief.
The post includes information about fundraising events around the country, and even mentions Mutineer Beer Editor/U.S. Army Super Soldier Brian Kropf as he and the rest of the magnificent 82nd Airborne help out in Haiti. Continue Reading »

Mutineer Beer Editor Brian Kropf is headed to Haiti with the Army’s 82nd Airborne to help out with relief efforts. He recorded this Ustream video today at the airfield preparing to deploy. He’ll have his iPhone, but it’s ridiculously expensive to use, so he’ll have limited contact with the outside world. Beverage will certainly be a concern with the limited water infrastructure damaged in the earthquake. Wish him well on Twitter via @odiedog52.
If you would like to get involved and donate to the relief efforts in Haiti we suggest you check out this post from Lifehacker.com, How and Where to Donate to Haiti (and Avoid Scams).

Mutineer Magazine supports our troops, and raises a glass to anyone out there with family serving in the military past or present. Your loved ones’ service is greatly appreciated.
