April 22nd is Earth Day and it’s a well-known fact that Mutineers love the planet Earth, clean water, clean habitats and environments to grow the ingredients for our beverages and for happy animals to frolic. Mutineers love the Earth so much that we have dedicated an entire issue to Earth Day with sustainability being the common theme throughout the magazine. Happy Canyon

Once upon a time, there was a small spot in Northern Santa Barbara County where locals would go to get illegal moonshine. They referred to the area as “Happy Canyon.” Some 76 years after the end of Prohibition, on Thursday, October 8, 2009, winemakers in that tiny little section of the Santa Ynez Valley won a proposal to have the valley registered as an official AVA: Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara. USB Coffee Warmer

It’s a USB powered coffee warmer…GENIUS. This picture was taken in the most futuristic shop in Bordeaux. I don’t speak, or read, French, so all I know about this brilliant product is that if I hook it up to my computer, it will keep my coffee piping hot, but what else would you need to know. This product is a WINNER.

A lonely glass of sparkling rosé by Sieur D’Arques

Like the centre of Bordeaux France, cafes line the “streets” of Vinexpo, the world’s largest wine and spirits exposition held in … well Bordeaux. It’s the modern day, bourgeoisie Moulin Rouge where Satin is played, this year, by rosé and sparkling wine selections. All other wine — and spirits to a much lesser extent– make up the chorus line.

This year some 40,000 to 50,000 visitors and exhibitors will flood the halls, which is not surprising given that wine and spirits sales totaled $330 billion worldwide in 2008. Come 2012 that figure will likely hit $390 billion with America taking the lead in sales that same year. Continue Reading »
