Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary

On November 15, 1980 the first batch of Sierra Nevada beer made it through the brewhouse, helping to usher-in a new era of interesting, hand-crafted, and flavorful beer enjoyed around the world today.

With that said, today Sierra Nevada turns 30! You knew it was coming as Sierra Nevada has been releasing their 30th Anniversary beers over the last few months. A total of four beers were released, with the first three being collaborations of Ken Grossman of Sierra Nevada with pioneering brewers such as founder of the American Homebrewers Association Charlie Papazian, Fritz Maytag of Anchor Brewery, nationally renowned beer writer Fred Eckhardt, and Jack McAuliffe of the late (and first microbrewery) New Albion Brewery. The last beer of the series, Grand Cru, was done entirely in-house and celebrates the pioneering history and innovative spirit of Sierra Nevada and is a blend of oak-aged Bigfoot, Celebration Ale, and fresh Pale Ale and then it’s generously dry-hopped. Beer Cake

Big news; the publishing company behind Mutineer Magazine officially turns two today! This is the equivalent of 14 dog years or 120 business-in-a-recession years, and we are PUMPED to have blasted our way through this most dark and depressing of financial times. The Mutineer Holiday Subscription Drive is booming and we are hoping it can be the thing that finally turns this recession around.

Black Eyed Peas

Guinness is hosting some pretty epic parties to celebrate it’s 250th birthday, but things have turned awkward in Malaysia, where Muslims have been barred from attending one such celebration featuring the Black Eyed Peas.

According to Reuters, No Muslims at Malaysia Black Eyed Peas concert:

The move comes after a Malaysian Islamic court sentenced a 32-year Muslim woman to be caned after she was caught drinking beer in a hotel and at a time when an opposition Islamic party has moved against beer sales. Continue Reading »
