Torani Bacon Syrup. I dunno, maybe there’s a market for this? I do know that the Mutineers were as excited as could be to receive a bottle of that newfangled Bakon Vodka, but when it came time to step up and drink the stuff, big talk withered quickly, but it makes a mean bloody mary.
According to Torani:
Bacon enthusiasts will recognize the same savory, meaty flavor as authentic bacon in this salty, sweet syrup. Torani Bacon syrup adds savory bacon flavor to cocktails, lattes, sauces and more. Just add 1/2 – 1 oz. of syrup to a 6-8 oz. beverage, and enjoy this innovative new flavor from Torani.
There’s even a recipe on the Torani website for a “Bacon Bourbon Sour”. I have not tried this cocktail, nor do I have any desire to, I’m just saying that it exists.
Bacon Bourbon Sour
1 oz. Torani Bacon Syrup
1 oz. fresh lemon juice
2 oz. bourbon
3 inch bacon strip (garnish)
Combine syrup, lemon juice, and bourbon in a cocktail shaker with cie. Shake well and strain into an old-fashioned glass. Garnish by placing a small strip of cooked bacon across the rim of the glass.
Time Magazine’s Joel Stein wrote a piece on his experiences exploring meaty cocktails with The Modern Mixologist, Tony Abou-Ganim, who apparently creates drinks using “elk-bouillon”.
According to Stein, “In this meat-happy era, when diners serve bacon doughnuts and every menu item comes with an option of adding chicken, one cannot expect to consume alcohol without killing an animal. Fat-washed cocktails, as drinks with meat-infused liquor are called, are popping up at lots of swanky bars.”

Bacon and vodka. Sounds ridiculous, right? Well, I was at a bar the other night talking to the bartender and the subject of bacon came up. One thing led to another and he finally came out and told me that he tried and experiment involving bacon and vodka. Continue Reading »

Here at Mutineer Magazine we are strong advocates for the bacon movement, i.e. the movement of it from the pan to our mouths, and as such bacon is on our radar. We even have bacon-related meetings, well ok, that was an exaggeration, but if we did I’d want to walk into the meeting with my brand new bacon cellphone case for my iPhone.

Check it out. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale know what’s up. Gwen recently dressed up like fried egg and Gavin dressed up as bacon. Awe, how romantic. I’m assuming that this is all related to Halloween, or else Stefani’s L.A.M.B. clothing line has gotten really psychedelic all of a sudden. Keep checking MutineerMagazine.com for awesome Halloween costume ideas.
