The World Beer Festival held at Moore Square in downtown Raleigh, NC this past Saturday was designed with the beer lover in mind and not for the faint of heart. Put on each year by All About Beer Magazine, I assure you this festival is the real deal. With over 105 breweries nestled under 30,000 square feet of tents, along with food, music, and other vendors, there is something for everybody and you WILL have a good time. With two sessions, one from 12:00-4:00 and the other from 6:00-10:00, we had planned on going to the first one and then heading home. This proved to be difficult as we could only make it through one of the two tents in the first session, and ala our press passes, we conveniently stayed for the second session as well. You are given a tasting glass that is to be filled with 2-ounces of delicious beer so you are sober enough to make it through a good number of the breweries. But the breweries being as generous as they are would fill on average 3-4 ounces or maybe even more. In lieu of this, and the fact that I tried every brewery there and some more than once, it’s safe to say that I consumed over 400-ounces of beer in between noon and 10:00PM, not including the beer I had at the bar afterwards. It’s not an easy job, but someone needs to be out there getting the exciting stories. Continue Reading »
