Mutineer on Tour – Soter Vineyards

Wine

Soter Vineyards

Soter Associate Courtney Shields is my host today, and we start off by heading into the vineyard to sip some Soter sparkling wine affectionately referred to as “Soter Pop”. Sparkling wine represents a relatively small amount of Soter’s production, but both the Rose and Blanc de Blancs are great if you can find them (rumor is the Blanc de Blancs is pretty impossible to find).

Powells City of (Wine) Books

Wine

Powell's Books

Powell’s Books is the largest independent bookstore in the world, and as such, has become my ultimate destination for wine books. Powell’s is more than a book store though, it is a “City of Books” (really, it’s so ridiculously big that they had to color code the different sections of the store). See the full post »

Mutineer on Tour – Antica Terra

Wine

Chad Stock

Antica Terra only makes wines that do the label justice. Not the most original marketing banter I’ve heard, but try this on: Antica Terra didn’t feel the 2005 crop from the Antica Terra Vineyard was up to snuff, so they, um, DIDN’T MAKE ANY WINE!!! The lesson here is, don’t call their bluff, these people mean business.

Mutineer on Tour – Lemelson Vineyards

Wine

Anthony King

(Or How My Trip to Lemelson Turned Into a Religious Experience)

I’ve been meaning to go to Lemelson Vineyards for some time now. I poured the Lemelson wines at both the Beverly Hills Hotel and Gordon Ramsay in Los Angeles with great success, and I’ve heard stories that the winery itself is amazing, the stories proved correct. See the full post »

Kress, New Night Club in Hollywood

Beverage News

Kress

Mutineer Magazine writer Natalie Hall attended the grand opening of Kress and here are her thoughts:

When you walk through the front doors, it makes quite an impression. The place is huge, I mean huge. The Kress is a multi-level restaurant, club, lounge, and banquet hall. As you walk in, you see an enormous round bar with a gorgeous abstract chandelier, flanked all around with banquettes designed in that opulent French-Asian Victorian thing. I see two things: the waitresses with trays of fancy-schmancy cocktails, and a buffet of appetizers. (Score!) See the full post »

Set Sail For Mutineer Restaurant

Food

Mutineer Restaurant

We’re pretty sure this is what went down: Back in 19XX, the founders of Mutineer Restaurant traveled forward in time to the year 2008 in search of a vision for their restaurant…the rest is history. Located in Florida City, Florida, Mutineer Restaurant’s website features some killer graphics and Billy Joel-esque piano riffs playing in the background. I decide to take advantage of the websites “Tour” feature, as I’m on tour on the West Coast right now, and well, it sounded like a great place to start. With the piano rocking my iMac speakers, I got a glimpse into what Mutineer Restaurant is all about.

Mutineer on Tour – Patton Valley Vineyard

Wine

Jerry Murray

After spending the day with Patton Valley Vineyard winemaker and vineyard manager Jerry Murray, I’ve found my morale high and my belly full of outstanding wine.

Perched in the hills of the Willamette Valley near the small hamlet of Gaston, Patton Valley Vineyard is a little off the beaten path in relation to the rest of the Willamette Valley, and I am convinced that this is its greatest asset. See the full post »
