Japanese Spa Fills a Swimming Pool With WinePhoto credit: UPI Photo/Keizo Mori

The picture speaks for itself ladies and gentlemen; the Japanese are clearly onto something here. In what I’m convinced is a homage to Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining”, UPI is reporting that a Japanese spa has filled a swimming pool full of red wine. The red wine supposedly offers health benefits including “relieving fatigue, moisturizing action and anti-aging”. This clearly wasn’t a thrown-together idea as they even have a MASSIVE wine bottle pumping fresh water into the pool. Apparently children are allowed into the wine-pool as a little person is pictured kickin’ it with who I’m assuming is his mom. Things are certain to get awkward when that last bit of sediment comes out the end of that giant wine bottle and clobbers the guy sitting under it in the head, but other than that this seems like a winner of an idea.

With a camera over his shoulder and a notebook in his hand, Mr. Kropf is in for quite the surprise, because through the double doors of the Grand Ballroom of the Westin Hotel await not only delicious wine, but a vast sea of designer purses and a one-way ticket to the Twilight Zone.

It was purses. It was women. It was crazy. See the full post »

Novelty Hill/Januik Wine Blending Adventure

Wine

Novelty Hill and Januik

The Novelty Hill/Januik Winery is a big, concrete, wine-making monolith located just outside of Seattle in the shimmering suburb of Woodinville. Today I have left Mutineer base camp to visit Novelty Hill/Januik for a wine blending workshop/throwdown. For guidance and good company I have brought with me Mutineer Magazine Research Coordinator Julie Eckroth, and I can’t wait to get my blend on. See the full post »
