Torys Whisky Commercial

This New York looking guy rolls into this bar after sneaking around some sort of parking lot walking in circles in the dark. Upon entering the bar, the bar itself appears out of nowhere, then this guy drinks somewhere between 8 and 9 nine shots of whisky in like 9 seconds, and every time he does a shot, his skin changes color and he gets really excited and happy, then he leaves, adding a hop to about every third step.

Creepy, Psychedelic Duran Duran Suntory Whisky Advertisement

This is an advertisement for Suntory Whisky that quite honestly freaks me out. There are all these porcelain dolls rocking out to new wave Duran Duran, all leading to up to this crazy bartender doll selling you Suntory Whisky. This video is CRAZY.

Got a Little Mutineer in You?

Morganette Asking For Age

Things got pretty crazy at Mutineer HQ last night. Our Business Development Manager Sam Alexander is in town from Seattle to check out venues for our huge party that we are planning for May 2009, and we learned that he has an epic thirst for Captain Morgan’s rum, which in turn inspired me to learn more and use my newly acquired book “Rum” by Dave Broom, which we are also writing about in the upcoming issue 3 of Mutineer Magazine. Most Psychedelic, In Your Face Vodka Commercial Ever

Hey!…..Vodka! This commercial straddles the line between psychedelic and terrifying, with both roads eventually leading to uncontrollable seizures. The only thing that could possibly make this more in-your-face would be 3-D glasses, which would probably cause the viewer to lose control of all bodily functions.

Jack Daniels and The Rainbow Bar & Grill: A Perspective

The Rainbow Bar & Grill

The Rainbow Bar and Grill sits on the far west end of Hollywood’s legendary Sunset Strip where it has been home to classic rock stars in the 70’s, hair metal bands during the 80’s and everybody stuck on memory lane ever since the grungy 90’s. While the pub actually serves great food, it goes with saying that its reputation is rooted in mass-consumed cocktails and the foolish acts that follow. See the full post »

(rī)1 Whiskey…Even the Name is Complex

Rye One Whiskey

Check out this new “ultra-premium” whiskey being offered by Beam Global Spirits & Wine, “Rye One”. I’m gonna be honest, as kitchy as the logo is, it is confusing as hell.

The official press release makes no mention of where or how this spirit is produced, and who actually produces it, but these are details of little concern to the modern beverage journalist I suppose. There is adequate focus on the logo and concept behind this new product, but little else. Have we entered such an era of Branding that we’ve lost sight of what is important? See the full post »

The Ultimat Party

Alan Kropf and Ladies at Ultimat Vodka Launch Party

You may have noticed that it took us until the afternoon to get a blog up today. The reason for this is that I spent all morning recovering from the Ultimat Vodka Los Angeles Launch Party last night…it was awesome. See the full post »

Beverage Halloween Costumes: Tequila IV Bag

Tequila IV Bag Costume

This costume is not only cool, but practical. It doesn’t come pre-filled, so I suggest filling with absinthe instead. Not only will your night get crazy, but the green absinthe will give it a Halloween touch. See the full post »
