A lonely glass of sparkling rosé by Sieur D’Arques
Like the centre of Bordeaux France, cafes line the “streets” of Vinexpo, the world’s largest wine and spirits exposition held in … well Bordeaux. It’s the modern day, bourgeoisie Moulin Rouge where Satin is played, this year, by rosé and sparkling wine selections. All other wine — and spirits to a much lesser extent– make up the chorus line.
This year some 40,000 to 50,000 visitors and exhibitors will flood the halls, which is not surprising given that wine and spirits sales totaled $330 billion worldwide in 2008. Come 2012 that figure will likely hit $390 billion with America taking the lead in sales that same year. See the full post »
We are big fans of guns that shoot alcohol, going as far as to concept our own alcohol shotgun, so this “shots gun” is definitely up our alley. The setup is simple, you attach the gun to the top of your favorite liquor bottle and get ready to relive your favorite scenes from Dirty Harry, 3:10 to Yuma, and Pulp Fiction…with tequila!

Absinthe: Pere Francois
Distillery: Francois Bezencon
Mutineer Magazine is all about absinthe right now, with the cover of the June/July issue being an absinthe extravaganza. We received this absinthe to try and the staff loved it, so a product spotlight it shall receive. This absinthe comes from Fleurier, Switzerland, home of the green fairy, and is produced in a family owned distillery that has been in operation for over 40 years. Since the ban on absinthe was lifted, the family has started producing individually numbered bottles using all the original ingredients including grand wormwood (artemisia absinthium) and European herbs. Pere Francois Absinthe garnered a gold medal at the National Competition of Waters-of-Swiss Noble Event in 2005/2006.
Our Energyologist Jeff is very into the 14 different flavors of Three Olives Vodka, and has been after me to blog about them for some time. Three Olives got started in 1998 and now offer drinkers a wide array of flavors using their English distilled vodka. Here is a run down of the flavors currently available as well as some official Three Olives recipes to go with them.
These recipes are all pretty simple, and Jeff suggests you get creative in how you mix the flavored vodka into cocktails. We’ll start things off with his signature cocktail:
Energyologist Jeff’s “Door and Bush” Cocktail
1 1/2 oz. Three-O Triple Shot Espresso Vodka
1/2 oz. Three-O Vanilla Vodka
4 oz. Java Monster Mean Bean Energy Drink
And for the 14 Cocktails Using 14 Flavors: See the full post »
Tomorrow it happens. Mutineer Magazine will make a statement with its official National Launch Party at Falcon Hollywood. If you haven’t been able to tell, we are very into the return of absinthe, and will be featuring Obsello Absinthe at the Launch Party. See the full post »
