Drunkenness…According to Jim Breuer

Beverage News

This is a pretty classic routine by Breuer. Breuer’s take on drunkenness is pretty psychedelic, with different alcohols becoming epic characters heading to a party in your stomach… you know it’s all true. Mutineer photographer Jordan Luckman can relate to tequila crashing the party… he’s still recovering from a tequila binge of his own at the infamous Cantina in Lake Chelan, and I’m guessing he’s not alone…

Incredibly Resourceful Man Gets DUI Driving A Bar Stool…

Beverage News

Bar Stool Vehicle

In what probably sounded like a great idea at the time, an Ohio man has been arrested on DUI charges after he wiped out on his homemade, bar-stool vehicle. According to The Smoking Gun:

According to cops, Kile Wygle, 28, crashed his bar stool near his Newark home earlier this month and called 911 due to his injuries. When an officer arrived and asked Wygle what happened, he answered, “I wrecked my bar stool”… Wygle’s homemade ride is powered by a Briggs & Stratton lawnmower engine. Wygle noted that the bar stool could hit nearly 40 miles per hour, but that he was only going 20 when he wiped out late in the afternoon on March 4…

Luxury Coming Soon to Willamette Valley: The Allison

Beverage News

There has been a lot of buzz around The Allison “premier inn and spa” opening in Willamette Valley in August. I recall many conversations about it at Pinot Camp last summer, with some excited about the new business and amenity opportunities and others unsure about the impact the new resort will have on the area. Zane Lamprey on Mutineer Green Carpet

Things got pretty crazy in New York this past Saturday at Zane Patrick’s Day at the Knitting Factory. The presence of Mutineer Magazine was felt on the “green carpet” as we sponsored the event and the photo area. We interviewed Zane about the event a couple of weeks ago, and that can be read here. Check out a couple of the photos from the event below.

St. Patrick’s Day: The Blog Post

Beverage News

Once again St. Patrick’s day is upon us and I have a feeling not many people know exactly what this holiday is about other than everyone claiming they’re Irish, getting either sexually harassed or pinched depending on how you look at it, and people getting belligerently drunk and throwing up behind their friends’ couch. I’d like to say it wasn’t always this way and there was a time when men could sit down amongst their buddies for a few brews and just enjoy themselves, but apparently this wasn’t the case. One newspaper described the St. Patrick’s Day scene in 1847 as “drunkenness, riot, and disorder prevailed to an extent which was frightful to contemplate.” It became such an issue that the people fought, and won, to get it changed from a beer-crazed festival into a puritan Sunday and in 1924 all public houses closed on the national holiday; a law that wouldn’t be reversed until the early 1960’s. Suze Orman vs. Restaurants

Beverage News

Anything to do with “calling people out” is sure to get my attention, so when I got the Facebook group invite to join “Mom-n-Pop Restaurants Against Suze Orman”, it was game on.

I received the invite from Emily Stoller Smith of the unfathomably awesome Eyrie Vineyards, which we wrote about in Mutineer Magazine Issue 2. People often ask me what my favorite wine is, and Eyrie is definitely in the top three, if not my favorite of all time. Anyways, the invite was from a trusted source, so I felt compelled to enter the fray. See the full post »

Chewbacca, Jack Bauer, and Walker Texas Ranger Join the Mutiny

Beverage News

Did you see the Mutineer post about the gun that shoots alcohol? The actual gun looks like a cross between a Star Trek phaser and a suppository injector, so Mutineer graphics whiz Jeff created the Mutineer Magazine Special Edition Alcohol Shotgun of the gun. It is this prototype that has now juxtaposed into photographs of the following American patriots: Chewbacca, Jack Bauer, and Chuck Norris. Here is how I imagine these folk heroes would use the Mutineer alcohol gun: See the full post »
