Beverage Study Says 35% of Alcoholic Beverage Companies are in Danger of Failing Within 2 Years

Global Business-Advisory Firm AlixPartners conducted a poll of 1,000 consumers in February 2010 as part of a study to gauge the consumer market for fine beverages. The report isn’t encouraging, saying that about 20% of non-alcoholic beverage companies and 35% of alcoholic beverage companies are in danger of going under over the next two years. That isn’t good news for sure, though it seems to be something of a misleading statistic given the ambiguity of it. See the full post »

Budweiser Encourages Soccer Fans To Designate A Driver

Alcohol consumption has a long history of coinciding with major sporting events. And typically, alcohol consumption increases around championship series and games. Budweiser has recognized this issue and, in honor of the 2010 World Cup, has created an ad campaign encouraging people to designate a driver. The ads will run until July 11th.

Odell Brewing Announces Limited Release Single Batch Double Pilsner


Odell Brewing Double Pilsner

Odell Brewing is back at it again, this time with their 2008 World Beer Cup silver medal winning Double Pilsner in hand. “Double Pilsner is a tribute to the classic Bohemian Pilsner, and boasts a strong German pilsner malt profile. Munich malts and Caramalt are balanced by Saaz and whole flower Tettnanger hops,” according to Amanda Johnson of Odell.

Limited to 100 barrels, Double Pilsner will be available in a limited area of distribution and will be found in six packs with a suggested retail price of $10.99-11.99. And as with all limited release beers, once this beer is gone — it is gone for good.

Interested in attending the release? The brewery will celebrate the release on June 19 in the brewery’s Tap Room with festivities beginning at 4:00PM.
