Whether it’s where we’ve been or where we’re going, this mutinous journey keeps finding new ways to open our eyes to how truly special the beverage scene and beverage culture is.
Where we have been: In June, we were honored to produce and host the annual Wine Blog Awards at the Wine Bloggers Conference in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada. We also found ourselves at Firestone Walker’s Invitational Beer Festival in June, which in its second year is quickly becoming one of the raddest beer festivals in existence. Later, we attended the annual Auction Napa Valley, which managed to raise a record shattering $16 million for local charities.
And the future: Not long after printing this issue, we will be in full force at the annual cocktail pilgrimage in New Orleans known as Tales of the Cocktail (July 17–21). Are you serious about spirits and cocktails? Perfect, we’ll see you there. In August (21–25), we are proud to be the presenting media sponsor of Sacramento’s Midtown Cocktail Week, a city that is often overshadowed by San Francisco, but believe us when we say, “Sacramento can hang with the best of them”. In September, yours truly will attend Camp Runamok in Kentucky with some of the country’s best bartenders, an annual experience that is one part Camp Anawanna, one part education, and two parts bourbon — essentially summer camp for bartenders. While it may be too late to sign up for this year, bartenders, keep your eyes peeled for this event next year.
Lastly, on October 16, Mutineer Magazine and Anchor Distilling Company will host some of the nation’s top bartenders at the 2013 Luxardo Cocktail Cup at Anchor’s San Francisco headquarters, all vying for the title of “Luxardo Cocktail Cup Champion”.
After that? Sky’s the limit.
