Mutineer Monday: July 11 #Tequila

Mutineer Monday
The mission of Mutineer Monday is to advocate and promote the fine beverage industry by challenging the masses to “Join The Mutiny” and raise a glass (whether it be alcohol or non) to igniting and inspiring a fine beverage revolution!

Each week, we reach out to our readers, our Twitter followers, our Facebook fans, our contributors, our favorite bloggers and writers, and even our own team — asking everyone to share how they will be partaking in Mutineer Monday. To participate, all one needs to do is indulge in a delicious fine beverage (or two or three) and leave a comment on our blog, on our Facebook wall, or give a shout-out on Twitter using the hashtag #MutineerMonday (and #JoinTheMutiny if you have enough characters). And if you are feeling particularly ambitious, feel free to do all three!

Since July is National Tequila Month, today’s #MutineerMonday theme is tequila. What’s your favorite tequila? What’s your favorite type; blanco, joven, reposado, añejo, extra añejo? Do you have a favorite tequila based cocktail?

Let us know!

Margarita on the rocks, no salt, using Patron Anejo, or if I want to spend a little less I’ll use 1800 Tequila.

  2. Jason | Monday, July 11, 2011

Espolon Blanco – Margarita, rocks, salt, or Tequila & Coke. mmmm mmm good.

  3. Corbie Smith | Monday, July 11, 2011

I could use a Margarita right about now! No salt. Since I’ve had the pleasure of trying it a few times I’m going to say a Milagro Margarita…Yummy stuff!

  4. Erin | Monday, July 11, 2011

It is a toss up for me between Milagro, Espolon and Don Roberto.

  5. Jim Simmonz | Monday, July 11, 2011

Avion Reposado in a Margarita or the Avion Silver. The Avion Anejo is too good to mix and not expensive for the quality. Patron sucks and 1800 burns like cuervo who make that junk.

  6. Dana Keller | Monday, July 11, 2011

I love the Avion smooth. Jim is right. I don’t like Patron anymore now that I understand tequila better. Milagro not bad and Tres Generations decent. Avion best though. Hard to find here in California.

  7. John | Monday, July 11, 2011

I like Don Julio Repo and Avion Silver and Anejo rocks. 1800 commercials are good but the tequila is horrid. El Tessoro good but they changed the taste and not like it used to be. Cuervo is perfect if you want to be ill. Any other questions :)

  8. Phil | Monday, July 11, 2011

    Don Roberto all the way!

  9. Brian Kropf | Monday, July 11, 2011

    Thank for sharing all!

A lot of my favorites have been named and it looks like there are a few that I gotta try!

Anyone have a favorite tequila cocktail other than the margarita?

  10. Dave | Monday, July 11, 2011

Great drink is muddled cucumber, mint and agave nectar. Add lime juice (1 ounce fresh) and 2 oz. tequila. Suggest anything but 1800 which is Cuervo. Best out there are Don Julio reposado and agree the Avion is amazing in all types.

  11. Brian Kropf | Monday, July 11, 2011

Dave, that drink sounds awesome! How much are cucumber, mint and agave nectar are you using?

I agree about the 1800, unfortunately I wasn’t a fan. During a tequila sensory analysis training I recently did, it smelled and tasted horrendous … what we thought was flawed .. compared to the other tequilas we were tasting.

Thanks again for sharing your recipe!
