Michael Kobayashi can’t keep away from the flame. One would think, after ten successful years as a music manager, that he’d evaluate the chaos of combining that life with the frenetic existence of a restaurateur, and just let it go. But Michael and his chef-brother, Chris, just celebrated the fourth anniversary of their restaurant, Artisan, and there seems to be no sign that Michael’s day after day commitment to both of those worlds is in any sort of decline.

Definition of silver-tongued: a person who is able to clearly and effectively express themselves, or who has a clever way with words. While at once it is admission of sophistication, it is in some cases an accusation of deceptiveness.
I wanted to make sure I clearly defined that term before I moved on any further. I am referring to the latter bit of the definition.
I’m currently working on a blog article for my own blog, over at Rantings, but I thought that this little piece of the pie deserves even more attention due to its level of deceptiveness.
What I’m talking about is thujone and how some of the less scrupulous absinthe brand representatives spin the info to make it seem like it plays an important role in the consumption of absinthe.
For those of you who have not yet read my previous blog post about the authenticity of absinthe that is available in the U.S., let’s just say that thujone really plays no part at all. Reports of its significance and/or its effects are highly exaggerated, and have been proven incorrect by recent scientific studies. Continue Reading »

We received the following from an anonymous source:
Owner Dennis Lange and Brewmaster Kevin McNerney are happy to announce Atlanta’s newest brewpub, Lucky Devil Brewing, located at the former Phoenix Brewing Company in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Kevin and Dennis to deliver the same high-quality food and that Atlanta has come to expect!

Recently I was contacted by a representative at Air & Water who wanted to know if I’d be interested in giving one of their wine coolers a try. As I have beer and wine stuck in nearly every nook and cranny of my house, their offer had immediately piqued my interest and I agreed to try one of them out. Low and behold, a few days later there would be a knock on my door and my brand new NewAir AW-210ED 21-bottle dual temperature zone wine cooler had arrived. Not wasting any time, I enlisted the help of a fellow Mutineer and after getting it out of the box, we screwed in the door handles and plugged it in. A few hours later, the unit would be cooled down and operational, ready to be filled with my favorite bottled beverages. Continue Reading »
