You probably have noticed by now that we have a lot of new faces regularly posting on the Mutineer blog. We recently recruited [read: brainwashed] some young, fresh and talented fine beverage revolutionaries to “Join The Mutiny.” And instead of letting these wild kids hide behind their tiny avatars, we decided to put them in the spotlight.
Meet Yashar Shayan, Sommelier and Mutineer’s foremost resource on all things vino in the state of Washington.
MUTINEER BLOG CONTRIBUTOR Q + A
Mutineer: When did you “Join The Mutiny”?
Yashar: At heart I’ve been a “Mutineer” from the day I got put my feet to the earth, but I started contributing online just recently in July of 2010.
When you are not contributing to the Mutineer blog, what occupies your time?
All I do is drink & eat and have a damn good time doing it!
What was the last thing you drank?
Wing Walker Lager from New York and Barth 2008 Charta Riesling from the Rheingau region of Germany.
What is your go-to fine beverage of choice?
I work in wine, but when I sit down at a restaurant and just want to enjoy myself it’s beer that I order. At home, I drink the good stuff, wine and liquor; I love any and all straight liquor.
Where do you call home?
I’m in Washington State, in the Seattle Area; North Juanita to be exact.
What is your favorite local watering hole?
I love the the drinking at Spur Gastropub & Tavern Law, both in Seattle and owned by the same people. Their food is simply amazing as well!
What is your favorite food & beverage pairing?
Everything goes with Champagne!
You can only drink 3 fine beverages for the rest of your life, go:
Bandol, American Pale Ale, and Armagnac.
In your own words, why should everyone reading this “Join The Mutiny”?
Because drinking the stuff every day mean you miss out on the over 99.99% of amazing beverage out there… there’s just sooooo much good stuff! Open up your mind, your palate, and your friggin’ mouth!
