Each year SBS Imports invites a noted brewer to co-design a beer to be brewed at De Proef. This past March, Terrapin’s Brian “Spike” Buckowski traveled to Lochristi, Belgium to collaborate with De Proef Owner-Brewmaster Dirk Naudts. The result was Monstre Rouge, the fourth beer in the De Proef Collaboration Series.
“We consider it a great honor to be invited to partner on this beer” — Spike Buckowski, Terrapin Co-Founder and Brewmaster. “It is a truly impressive list of brewers who have come before us and it has been a great experience to work with De Proef and SBS.”
Monstre Rouge
(Loosely based on Terrapin’s Big Hoppy Monster with a Belgian twist)
- Style: Imperial Flanders Red Ale
- ABV: 8.5%
- Malt Profile: Range of Crystal malts, Munich and Terrapin’s signature Rye
- Hops: Blend of American hops, 55 IBUs
- Fermented with brettanomyces and aged with toasted American oak, Monstre Rouge pours a deep amber-red with complex flavor profile that is tart, sweet, sour, hoppy and woody.
This limited production beer is available in cases of 6/750ml cork-finished bottles and 30L kegs. Suggested retail price is $15.99 per bottle
