DonQ Rum + Universal Pictures = Self-Proclaimed “First Spirits Alliance in History”
Universal Pictures is looking forward to many more epic fine beverage scenes, such as this orgy of drinks from “Meet the Fockers”.
The folks at Universal Pictures are pretty excited to have DonQ Rum out of Puerto Rico appear in some upcoming films, including “Little Fockers” (the sequel to Meet the Fockers) and “Get Him to the Greek”.
According to Universal Pictures:
Universal Partnerships & Licensing Vice President, Corporate Alliances Stephanie Testa announced today that Universal Pictures and DonQ Rum, Puerto Rico’s leading rum brand, have entered into a corporate alliance. As the “Official Rum of Universal Pictures,” the partnership also provides for DonQ’s brands to be integrated into Universal Pictures premieres and events, develop joint programs at retail and create marketing activation across social and online media platforms.
The deal marks the first time Universal has formed a corporate alliance with a sprits company.
“This alliance provides DonQ with the opportunity to expand its brand presence in the U.S. by harnessing the power of Universal’s films and its marketing expertise,” said Testa. “We look forward to supporting DonQ in their efforts to expand their brand.”
“DonQ is thrilled to partner with Universal Pictures,” said National Field Marketing Director, Yisell Muxo. “By integrating our brand into Universal’s top releases, we will be able to target consumers at a very important touch point – entertainment. Tapping into the coveted movie-going audience via our joint marketing efforts will further help DonQ generate awareness and bring Puerto Rico’s preferred premium rum to new emerging consumer audiences.”
Terms of the agreement give DonQ Rum products the first opportunity to participate in product placement and co-promotion on Universal’s films in the spirits category.
When is a film company going to pair with an absinthe company? That’s what I want to see and, if no one is willing to step up to the plate, I’ll have no choice but to start my own film company for the sole purpose of bringing on a film studio partner. I know 24 has ended, though I think we can still set something up with FOX to keep it going. 24 + absinthe = THE FUTURE. I think. Right? We tried pairing Jack Bauer with Jack Daniels in the past, but nothing came of it. But, I still believe. I STILL BELIEVE!
