Bacardi U.S.A. and the USO Celebrate the Troops with the “Salute to Summer’s Best 60 Second Cocktails” Program
I’m a big fan of the military and I guess that should be evident, being that in three days, I will hit my four year mark of active duty service in the Army. I’m also a big fan of alcohol and fine beverage, which should be even more evident, as I write and blog for Mutineer. Sadly, unless the former is causing one to drink the latter, the two don’t have too much of a connection.
Enter Bacardi U.S.A. and the USO and two former soldiers, one turned celebrated chef and the other a seasoned mixologist. Combined, they work to raise $100,000 for the USO and salute our military heroes by launching the “Salute to Summer’s Best 60 Second Cocktails” program, which gives consumers simple grilling and cocktail recipes created by Chef John Besh and Mixologist Bryan Stowe.
“Bacardi U.S.A., Inc. has committed to donate $75,000 to the USO at the onset of summer, with consumers (21+) able to increase the total donation amount to a maximum of $100,000 through their participation in the program via the “60 Second Cocktails” Facebook fan page. Each time a new fan of the program joins the “60 Second Cocktails” Facebook fan page, Bacardi U.S.A. will increase its donation to the USO by $1. The fan page will host an online copy of the program recipe book, additional recipe information and interactive mixology videos.”
So it all seems pretty simple to me. Get on Facebook and become a fan of their page. At the time of writing, they only have 747 fans, so they are a long way from their goal! After that, get the grill going, mix up some drinks, give a toast to America and to our military for tirelessly protecting it and have a great Independence Day weekend. The “Salute to Summer’s Best 60 Second Cocktails” program launches on Independence Day, and will run through Labor Day 2010.
