Odell Prepares to Release Their Woodcut No. 3
Avery isn’t the only awesome brewery coming out with their third installment of an awesome series of beer as Odell prepares to release their Woodcut No. 3. The third of their Woodcut barrel-aged series, No. 3 follows No. 1, an oak aged ale and No. 2, an oak aged golden ale. No. 3 is an oak aged crimson ale that after primary fermentation, it is chilled and then transferred to virgin American oak barrels to age and once it’s finally ready, the brewers will evaluate various barrel blends before finally choosing the blend to bottle. As with the other beers in the Woodcut series, Woodcut No. 3 is bottle conditioned in 750ml Champagne-style bottles and then corked and caged.
According to the press release: “For Woodcut No. 3, brewers artfully combined Crystal, Cara, and Munich malts to create a pleasant sweetness and an appealing red color. Hints of caramel, raisin, and toasted almonds are balanced by delicate hop flavors, and the beer’s distinct oak aroma enhances the finish. Woodcut No. 3 is a perfect pairing for the traditional Thanksgiving dinner.”
For anyone in the Colorado area, Odell will celebrate the release of Woodcut No. 3 with an un-corking celebration at the brewery’s tap room on November 16th from 4-6 P.M. Woodcut No. 3 will be available in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, South Dakota, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and Arizona and it will retail for around $24.99 per bottle.

Label looks really cool.. too bad the image is so small (even the enlarged version). But from what I can tell it looks sweet. I’ve never had beer from Odell…will have to check it out though.
Nice write up! You going to make it to the un-corking with music and cheese pairings to have a taste as its released?
I wish I could, but I’m way too far away. Maybe next year!
