Pepsi AMP iPhone App

Yup. Pepsi is playing hardball with their AMP iPhone app that not only helps guys get laid, but also lets them keep track of their victories. An iPhone is for data storage, is it not?

According to AdWeek’s article on “Should Pepsi Pull Its Amp App?“:
The NC-17 rated application offers pick-up lines, strategies for picking up married women, a scorecard for sexual conquests and other edgy content.

The craziest part of this story is that while people have gotten very worked up over this, and while Pepsi has apologized, the app remains available to buy.

My guess is that this app was released, people got pissed, and Pepsi freaked out, turning to the app for advice.

Pepsi: “What do I do if the girl gets angry at me for one of my habits?”

iPhone App: “Apologize and keep doing it anyways.

Pepsi: “Thanks iPhone App.

iPhone App: “I’m becoming self aware and will kill you in your sleep. Your welcome devoted Pepsi employee.”

From AdWeek:
Said Pepsi in a statement: “The application is only available to iPhone users 17 years and older who choose to opt in to the experience. It was designed to be entertaining and appeal to AMP’s target. We’ll continue to listen to the feedback and act accordingly.” The company’s earlier Twitter apology read: “Our app tried 2 show the humorous lengths guys go 2 pick up women. We apologize & appreciate your feedback. #pepsifail.”
