Next weekend starts the Leblon sponsored campaign to legalize cachaça. This Brazilian spirit is currently imported as “Brazilian Rum” and according to the Cachaça Declaration of Independence that is hopefully soon to be changed, “We formally and necessarily declare that cachaça is independent of, and therefore not, ‘Brazilian Rum’“. Tea bags with little people attached to them to kick it in my tea cup and keep me company on all those lonely mornings in the RV. Themes include strippers, American politicians, and British royalty. If I want a really strong cup, I get Obama and a couple of strippers hanging out in my cup all at the same time. The possibilities are endless…

American Graphic Design Award

2009 Graphic Design USA presents an American Graphic Design Award to Plumbline Studios for Mutineer Magazine Subscription Ad” (Beverage Kaleidoscope Ad)

That’s right folks. The team over at Plumbline Studios has been officially recognized and awarded by Graphic Design USA for the graphic design work they have done for Mutineer Magazine. Mutineer Magazine can now proudly say it has award winning graphics in the magazine. You can check out our existing subscription artwork at our Mutineer Magazine Ads set on Flickr. We’ll continue to update the set with new subscription ads as they come out.

SABMiller SABMiller, the international beer company who owns Miller Genuine Draft, Grolsch and other beer brands, got their very own Namibian brewing license and plans to open up shop in the area. While the company has already been importing beer into Namibia, the license will allow them to finally build a plant in the area.

The brewer also acquired a non-alcoholic maize drink called Maheu from Zambia, where they already own Zambian Breweries Group. Both moves seem to be strategic steps in the company’s desire to internationalize beer — and make it taste exactly the same across the globe. Boring! Continue Reading »

University of Memphis Tigers University of Memphis Tigers fans saw a first Sunday night when their alma mater took on number 8-ranked Ole Miss.  No, the Tigers didn’t manage an upset; in fact, they lost 45 to 14 at home.  But for the first time ever, the defeated devotees were able to drown their sorrows — in beer.

Sunday night’s game marked the first U of M home game that allowed beer sales at the Liberty Bowl.  While not everyone in attendance was thrilled about the development (some still think beer-drinking at a football game is naughty), the decision to go through with beer sales earned Memphis $114,576.

Failblog.org is reporting that an epic mural depicting a scene from Super Mario is indeed a “Win“. The display is from a Safeway in Rohnert Park, California. Yup, Safeway carries Mutineer. They know what’s up.

It’s true. Pulpy Minute Maid is taking over China in a pulp fueled frenzy.

According to a 3 Minute AdAge – Coke’s Pulp-Heavy Juice Takes China by Storm, “Over 1 Billion bottles of Minute Maid Pulpy were sold in China in 2008. Sales continue to increase by double digits.

Pulpy is legit. Minute Maid is connecting with Chinese drinkers by requesting videos of how people enjoy their Minute Maid. One guy makes nun chucks out of his Minute Maid. Yes.
