Coca-Cola & Pepsi vs. the Chinese Environment
Yahoo News reporting on Coca-Cola and PepsiCo’s environmental impact on China: “among the top 12 factories causing major water pollution in China’s capital, the city government has announced.”
Both PepsiCo and Coca-Cola have been aggressively expanding into Asia, and apparently their presence is being felt on the environmental front.
According to the story, in addition to Coca-Cola and PepsiCo, “The Tsingtao brewery in Beijing, top juice maker in Huiyuan and several major Chinese dairy producers made the list of major water polluters.”
This is a surprising story as fine beverage companies are typically very considerate of the environment. Neither soda companies have commented on the story, but in what can only be described as awkward, both PepsiCo and Coca-Cola have bombastic websites promoting environmental responsibility.
