Make This Now: Absinthe Ice Cream

Thu, Jul 9 |

Writer David Lebovitz claims to be “living the sweet life in Paris”. As if I telepathically screamed “Prove it!” in his face, he has a recipe on his blog for Absinthe Ice Cream.

You win, Mr. Lebovitz, you win.

A genius of sorts, he has somehow combined the world of alcohol, specifically absinthe, with ice cream. This man would be a king in America; the Robert Parker of Baskin Robbins, the Steven Tanzer of Cold Stone Creamery, the Steve Heimoff of…wait, who?

Lebovitz has what appears to be a solid recipe for Absinthe Ice Cream viewable here. I’ve tried to make the recipe, but I just end up eating the chocolate chips and drinking the absinthe…

For more on Lebovitz, check out his books “The Sweet Life in Paris: Delicious Adventures in the World’s Most Glorious – and Perplexing – City” and “Perfect Scoop: Ice Creams, Sorbets, Granitas, and Sweet Accompaniments” on Amazon, and follow him on Twitter @davidlebovitz

I have personally pioneered another sweet treat with Absinthe named The Green Light, equal parts Mountain Dew and Absinthe over ice. My favorite is Obsello Absinthe with Mountain Dew Throwback.

I thought I went to the wrong site at first, as I know this recipe well. This is some of the best ice cream ever to grace my Cuisinart. Lebovitz rocks.
