Beer Spotlight: Red Chair IPA
JJ Bagley / Thu, Jul 2
Beer: Red Chair IPA
Brewery: Deschutes Brewery
Style: American India Pale Ale
Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass
The Red Chair IPA is named after the oldest operating ski lift at Mt. Bachelor. I don’t know if that is supposed to be inspiring because it is still around or terrifying that it may fall apart at any moment. Nonetheless this addition to the Bond Street Series of Deschutes beers uses seven varieties of malt to obtain “a plush body with satiny caramel favors” and tones down the hop bitterness letting the malt come through.
The kick-ass label with a drawing of Old Red will certainly draw you in and the taste of the IPA will keep you pouring more. Deschutes recommends hot-n-sour soup, enchiladas with mole sauce or thin crust margarita pizza with this delicious brew.
Available in 22 oz. bottles from May to September. Click here for more information about the Red Chair IPA.

Thin crust pizza and IPA is a bomb combo. I haven’t tried the Red Chair yet, but I have a great pizza place nearby with a hell of a beer selection. It will be part of my next outing.
