Myung-Ho Lee had a bitter contract dispute with Michael Jackson. The accusation is uncharacteristic of Michael Jackson.
I raise a toast to your humanity, long may it search you out.

I'll respectfully disagree with you on this. The elevation of musical legends, icons and geniuses in our culture to a status which completely leaves moral rules up for grabs is something we all need to take a long look at.
I weigh in not to judge or condemn Michael Jackson but rather to suggest that we need to look closely at ourselves, our pop culture. I urge everyone to look at their hearts here and ask honestly. Would we have felt the same about this man had he did not possessed such awesome gifts? If he were merely the tragic Pagliacci, man-child figure working behind the counter at BevMo, would we be so quick to say ask him to baby sit for our little children while we're out Friday night simply because he gave us great service at check out? Or would we categorize him differently?
Not exactly party on subject matter, I know. But here's the deal. What if we sometimes stepped back just a bit and stopped taking pop culture and our icons less seriously and really looked at them as just people? Maybe, just maybe, someone would have given enough of a shit to intervene in his life and care about him as a person, a flawed, fragile person like each of us. I hate it when "musical legends, geniuses and icons" die without real friends. I hate it that anyone dies without grappling with consequences and accountability like the rest of us.
The jokes, the satire, the crap that is part and parcel to celebrity death has only just begun here. I'm really gonna need a drink.
