Anheuser Busch Flirts With Releasing Entire Lineup of 55 Calorie Beers

Alan Kropf / Sat, Jun 20
Miller’s 64 calorie beer, MGD64, has turned out to be a commercial success, so like movies about mall cops, Anheuser-Busch is entering the calorie labeled beer world as well with, wait for it, Budweiser Select 55, which should hit shelves later this year in select markets. AdAge is reporting that the new, low calorie beer was "described by an impressed major-market wholesaler as ‘not as watery as you’d think’." Really? REALLY? At least PRETEND to care what’s in the can. I get it, marketing’s important, but it’s beer people. Not orange juice. Not water. It’s effing beer. If you have to, drink a beer with more than 55 calories and then go for a walk or something. Do yourself a favor. But wait! It gets better. AdAge has released photos of an entire lineup of 55 calorie beers that won’t be going into production. These include “Anheuser 55” and “Michelob 55”. Awesome. Really got out of the box with those. It doesn’t matter though, the rest of the 55 calorie lineup isn’t slated to go into production anytime soon.

I’ll stick with my Sam Adams Light … best light beer EVER. You can’t even tell it’s a light beer.
