Did you see the post about the American Craft Beer Week? The Declaration of Beer Independence is a part of those festivities, and according to the Brewers Association, more than 4,900 people have signed the declaration. This thing is very cool; drawing a line in the sand and making a statement about what beer is and can be. Continue Reading »

American Craft Beer Week is right around the corner, starting on May 11 and running through May 17. Beer drinkers across the United States can look forward to events and festivals put on by their favorite breweries, and that’s cool for sure, but did you know that Colbert Nation is pumping this thing up? Oh yes, this is the real deal, so real, in fact, that the House of Representatives has pumped it up with
House Resolution 753, recognizing ACBW as being the real deal. Continue Reading »

Host of television’s Three Sheets and cover guy of Mutineer Issue #5 Zane Lamprey answers fan questions during Zano de Mayo.
Things have gotten crazy at Mutineer Magazine, as you can probably guess from the lack of blogs. I’ve been in Los Angeles to attend Zano de Mayo and do some last minute preparations for the Mutineer Magazine National Launch Party presented by Paso Creek on May 18, and the rest of the Mutineer team has been working hard on wrapping up Issue #6, which is at the presses and will be available on newsstands June 1, with advance copies available at the Launch Party. The World Beer Festival held at Moore Square in downtown Raleigh, NC this past Saturday was designed with the beer lover in mind and not for the faint of heart. Put on each year by All About Beer Magazine, I assure you this festival is the real deal. With over 105 breweries nestled under 30,000 square feet of tents, along with food, music, and other vendors, there is something for everybody and you WILL have a good time. With two sessions, one from 12:00-4:00 and the other from 6:00-10:00, we had planned on going to the first one and then heading home. This proved to be difficult as we could only make it through one of the two tents in the first session, and ala our press passes, we conveniently stayed for the second session as well. You are given a tasting glass that is to be filled with 2-ounces of delicious beer so you are sober enough to make it through a good number of the breweries. But the breweries being as generous as they are would fill on average 3-4 ounces or maybe even more. In lieu of this, and the fact that I tried every brewery there and some more than once, it’s safe to say that I consumed over 400-ounces of beer in between noon and 10:00PM, not including the beer I had at the bar afterwards. It’s not an easy job, but someone needs to be out there getting the exciting stories. Continue Reading »
I’ve drawn a line in the sand, I’ll drink this entire press kit to prove my point…
In case you didn’t know, Mutineer Magazine has an Energyologist, Jeff Dorenbush, and as such he is constantly receiving press samples of crazy energy drink products. While Jeff loves all things energy related, Red Bull is his rosebud. He loves Red Bull with a vengeance, so when Red Bull sent us a futuristic press sample of their new Red Bull energy shots, it was terrible news for him that I had intercepted the package and disappeared into the Pacific Northwest backcountry in the Mutineer RV. I have wireless Internet, a full generator, and enough red bull to keep things running for weeks…the standoff has begun. Continue Reading »
