Now we're talking Tom! Howard Stern of wine publications?!?! Yes! I like what you are predicting regarding our small, rebel publication and that someday we'll be able to hire AC/DC to play at our events. Yes, the future is looking very cool.

Yes, it is a kind of backhanded compliment. Shanken's personal reputation for rudeness, and the Thunder Man's reputation for crudeness have not diminished their success even while those around them wince. Who knows, Alan, you may become the Howard Stern of wine publications.

So if I understand you correctly, my efforts are in line with what other successful publishers have done when they were faced with the impossible task of making their projects successful? That is the best compliment you've given me yet!

I also said I was a fan of the magazine. Too bad Alan cancels out these merits by pushing himself on others. But, hey, Marvin S no doubt was pushy, as is Gary V, the King of Pushers. Me, I'll take the ever so polite Steve Heimoff (it was Hobbes who wrote that manners are "small morals")

I'm a big fan of the magazine and think that Alan and his writers are doing a great job. I for one wish there were more "Alans" in the world.

You tell first, Tara.

In the interest of fairness, here are my posts on the MM site (leave it to a pushy promoter to use his publication as his name on OWC). Readers can make up their own mind about Alan's uncivil behavior, which did have the positive effect, as I noted, of prompting the admins of OWC to post "rules of the road" so the Alans of the world wouldn't ruin the landscape....

I just have to tell you how extremely annoying it is to this sourpuss to continue to see your 48 pt.logo plastered on so many Comment Walls of personal pages on this site. You took it down from my page, how about doing it for others? Fortunately, you stopped putting up these mini billboards in October when the ensuing kerfuffle helped trigger the OWC Best Practices guidelines.
