I sit and sip my IPA, mulling over the now gone day.
The hops hit my tongue and lull my mind, I slowly start to unwind.
The beer is good the day is done, now it’s time to have some fun.

This is one of my favorite movies ever. Bill Murray plays Phil Connors, a weatherman and continual a-hole with contempt for everything and everyone. According to the director Harold Ramis, Phil has to relive the day for about ten years. So here is a tribute to the ten years of Phil’s imbibing his most repudiated drink. Continue Reading »

I vividly remember the first time I tried Gorgonzola cheese. I was sitting outside a little café in Milan, Italy, after the first whiff of what smelled like putrefying garbage, and taking one more look around to make sure it wasn’t a joke I placed the cheese laden baguette in my mouth. After the retching subsided and I was able to rinse out my mouth with ice tea I sat wondering how anyone could possibly enjoy such food. Well many years later I have acquired a taste for the cheese, though I still squirm sometimes, along with many other foods that I would have never eaten before. Continue Reading »

Some say that the drink is named after the Scottish folk hero Robert Roy Macgregor, others tell that when Dewar’s Scotch Whiskey was introduced to New York an opera by the name Rob Roy had just opened and prompted the drink to be named such. Regardless, the drink is now part of American culture and has a few variations depending on the taste of the drinker. Continue Reading »
