Beer Pong: Sink It - Drink It

ESPN Columnist Rick Reilly posted his thoughts on the sport of beer pong, fine beverage’s proving ground for throwing ping pong balls into plastic cups of beer. Beer pong players are the real deal,

You have never seen such large people throw such tiny objects into such small receptacles with such hair-raising frequency. The best teams hit about 70% of their shots on the eight-foot tables. That’s like pitching a quarter into a parking meter slot seven times out of 10. - Rick Reilly

I did play a fair amount of beer pong while living in San Diego back in the 80s-90s … it invariably turned into whiskey pong with shot glasses (no Stranahans back then)you can imagine the intensity one had to maintain to hit those tiny targets, a single bounce was the trick for me (we had our own rules)… give it a bounce and break out the Stranahans.

For years I loved Rick Reilly’s Point After column in back of Sports Illustrated.

I was thrilled to learn he’d decided to cover the most under-rated “sport” out there.

Yeah, it’s not football or basketball, but it’s clearly at least darts or billiards. Maybe it’s even up there with bowling.
