Carbon Fiber Coasters

Other Beverage

Carbon Fiber Coasters

Two of my favorite things in the world that I thought would never meet are, fine beverage and carbon fiber. Why I love a good beverage, perhaps a beer, is obvious; it’s delicious, the beer culture is relaxing, the artistry within the brewing process, and well there is always the buzz. I love carbon fiber because it’s stronger than steel, lighter than aluminum, and most importantly, they make race cars out of it. Well, now the dream has finally come true, carbon fiber coasters with a stainless steel stand are available from Carbon Fiber Direct. This item is probably only for the fanatic as the price is a steep $149.99, they are still very cool.

I’m a big fan of CF myself. But .. you could make your own for much much cheaper. That price is ridiculous! Cool find nonetheless.

May have to take out a loan but I MUST have these!! I’d like the stand made in the McLaren Mercedes F1 car pewter color just to add some additional expense.
    SWEET!

Well, if you wanted to get a sheet of CF and cut it that would be fairly simple, fabricating that stand would be something entirely different.

the stand would be just as easy! get a fancy lookin’ pipe, cut slits in it, and weld it at a 45* angle to a piece of the metal for the base. of course everyone can’t do this which is why they can charge what they do .. but you just gotta be crafty. That probably costs $10 to make.

but like i said .. i love CF and the more of it on my car the better!

    JJ, Brian,
I appreciate your resourcefulness. Consider making a slightly oversized CF disc or oblique for your base and epoxy it on to the tube stock (you could also use a wood dowel rod w/ a hand rubbed finish either way no welding.) Use the 4mm edge of a file to create the slits. Finally sell on E-Bay for $99.99 even better sell on MM for $99.99 w/ no copy right infringements. You now have your own Mutineer ad. Ok I know your busy so I’ll fabricate them for $49.99 shipping to MM incl. Alrighty then.
