ABSOLUT ICEBAR: Stockholm, Sweden

Spirits
01.13.2009

Forget the ice luge at the local bar, go for the real deal and check out the world’s first permanent ice bar in Stockholm – ABSOLUT ICEBAR. ABSOLUT Vodka, whose home country is Sweden, teamed up with ICEHOTEL to create the ultimate bar experience. Not only are the drinks served in glasses made of ice the interior of the bar is all sculpted ice from the Torne River in the Swedish Lapland. That’s right the entire bar is ice, kept at a chilling 23 degrees Fahrenheit.

ABSOLUT ICEBAR

There are four other locations around the world for your frigid entertainment: Jukkasjärvi, London, Tokyo, and Copenhagen.

Yuck and double yuck….not only would I NOT want to go to a bar specializing in the one spirit I can’t stand in all its boring blandness, but the thought of freezing my ass off while I’m getting served a crappy drink is horrid! Leave me on my tropical island with my Cuban rum, thank you.

Where’s the sense of adventure Katie. 23 is not that cold and you could sneak in a flask of Fidel’s favorite anyway.
I like the idea of getting comfortably numb in this brilliantly unique concept from the vodka and the cool and I love the locations!

Very cool(no pun)… I’m bringing a heated stadium cushion though.

I do have to admit that vodka tastes much better when in a freezing environment. The closest I’ve been to this was Red Square at Mandalay Bay in Vegas … it was a $300 bottle of vodka, but it was a cool experience. Not to mention the fur coats were moneyyyy.

Sorry, I can’t stand the cold. I have no idea why I live in Jersey….I definitely belong in Tahiti or something.
