Chocolate Bock

Samuel Adams founder Jim Koch has something new brewing for the holiday season, Chocolate Bock. This seasonal beer uses Scharffen Berger chocolate in the recipe to create subtle layers of chocolate flavor.

Researching for this blog I stumbled upon at interview at Star-Telegram.com with Jim where he gives examples of what to pair with this unusual beer. “Any kind of chocolate goes well [with the Chocolate Bock] because it complements chocolate flavors. It’s also great with berries, bread pudding and anything with chocolate sauce,” says Koch, who also recommends his product as an accompaniment to tiramisu. Included in the article is a recipe from Chef David Burke for Chocolate Mousse Cake using the Chocolate Bock.

Hopefully I’ll be able to find this in my area. Is this gonna be limited in quantity, or available most everywhere?

Considering I have a mound of delicious Scharffen Berger chocolate in my drawer at work, I will be on the lookout for this up in the SF area. Sounds perfect for a rainy day by the fire.

    Thanks for the tip.
