I’m never one to shy away from a new experience. Today I tried my first flowering herbal tea. This was labeled Champagne Wishes and started off as a tightly bound, slightly mushroom shaped bundle of what looked like grass. I placed it in the bottom of my mug and added boiling water then watched it literally flower. I let it steep for about ten minutes as it opened up fully.
This particular tea had a delicate chamomile like flavor with little aroma. After I drank it I examined the remains and discovered that the “bud” of the tea was actually threaded to the bottom part to keep it from floating to the top.
At around $10 the price is pretty expensive, but it is really cool. The best way to enjoy this would be in a transparent glass mug so you can see it actually flower.

I was a little disappointed in the tea flower. I was expecting something more epic…it is still interesting though. Ah, memories from Washington…

How is that not epic? Its a freakin’ mini-flower that popped out of nowhere. Its like the big-bang theory of tea.
