The greatest adversary of Mutineer Magazine is not the crumbling economy, nor is it the Wine Spectator. The greatest adversary of Mutineer Magazine is the army of meter maids in Los Angeles. We collect parking tickets like ’05 Bordeaux, and I must say it is starting to take a toll on morale around the office.
In our defense, the practical city of Los Angeles doesn’t exactly make it easy to enjoy a cocktail on Sunset Blvd. Your choices are either to pay $20 for a private parking lot, or try and decipher the puzzle that is a LA street parking sign.
The sign in this blog’s picture, for example, says that you can park here, unless it is 4am-7am any day of the week, or midnight to 7am on a Saturday, or midnight to 7am on a Sunday. Now, if it is a Monday through Thursday, and it is 10pm to 2am, you can park for 4 hours, but if it is from 8am to 10pm on a Monday through Thursday, you can only park for 2 hours. Also, on Friday and Saturday, it is 2 hour parking all day from 8am to midnight. Things get really crazy when you are trying to park here between 7am and 8am any day of the week, because this hour is completely left off the sign…free parking?
